I offer two types of attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy services to suit different needs.

What is Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy helps people understand what happened to them in-depth, what informs their current thinking and feelings, and what has been influencing their decisions so far.

Its purpose is to offer support as clients navigate mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, isolation, life transitions, major life events, bereavement, low self-esteem and identity struggles.

At the core of psychotherapy is the steady, secure and safe relationship with the therapist, the secure base, which allows people to experience feeling seen, heard and understood, and gives them an opportunity to develop resilience and heal.

Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is greatly informed by attachment theory research, psychoanalysis, trauma research, neuroscience, race, disability, and gender studies..

FAQs

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Once a session is confirmed, that time is reserved for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. This allows me to offer the session to someone else.

Sessions cancelled with less notice will be charged at the full fee, except in cases of emergency. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out.

How do I pay for online sessions?

For online sessions, payment is made in advance via bank transfer. Once we agree on a time, I’ll share the payment details.

I’ll confirm when the payment is received, and if you need a receipt, just let me know—I’m happy to provide one.

If paying upfront isn’t feasible for you, feel free to reach out and we can discuss options.

How do I pay for face-to-face sessions?

For face-to-face sessions, payment is made either in advance or after the end of the session either via bank transfer or cash. Once we agree on a time, I’ll share the payment details.

If you need a receipt, just let me know, I can provide you with one.

If this presents any difficulty, feel free to let me know, and we can discuss options.

Can I bring food or drink into the session?

To keep the therapy space calm and focused, food is not permitted during sessions. If you need to eat, you are welcome to do so before or after the session.

Water is provided, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Can I smoke or vape during the session?

Unfortunately, no smoking or vaping is permitted during the sessions.

The scent of smoke or vapor can linger, even after someone has smoked or vaped outside the premises immediately before a session. This can affect other clients, especially those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, allergies, or sensory sensitivities, as well as those with trauma histories related to smoke. You’re welcome to smoke outside the building after your session.

If smoking or vaping helps you manage anxiety or distress, we can explore some grounding techniques or coping strategies that might be helpful during sessions.
